7 AI outbound calling tools for Shopify brands in 2026 (compared)

Most "AI phone agent" products for ecommerce do not place outbound calls. They answer inbound ones. That distinction disappears in a category where everyone uses the same three words, and it is the first thing to check if what you want is an agent that phones your abandoned checkouts.

We went through seven platforms that come up in this decision and read what each one claims on its own site. Of the seven: three place outbound calls against a list you choose. One triggers on inbound signals rather than working a list. One is SMS with human agents. Two are inbound-only.

The short answer

  • Shopify brand that wants AI and human callers on the same campaigns: Consio

  • Enterprise contact centre across several verticals: Regal

  • B2B and GTM speed-to-lead, not ecommerce: Thoughtly

  • Signal-triggered AI callbacks, no human layer wanted: Outcraft

  • Cart recovery by SMS with real humans, paid on performance: LiveRecover

  • Shopify inbound support only: Ringly and Flip CX. Neither is an outbound answer.

Two of the seven cannot dial out at all. Two more dial out but have no human layer. Consio and Regal are the only platforms here where AI and human callers work the same campaign, and only one of the two is built around Shopify.

1. Consio: AI and human callers on the same campaign

What it is: an AI phone platform built for Shopify brands, covering inbound and outbound in one workspace. You point a campaign at a Shopify or Klaviyo segment, then choose whether an AI agent works the list or your sales reps do.

Why it leads this list: the caller is a setting on the campaign rather than a separate product. Same segments, same script, same reporting on both. And the AI transfers a live call to a person mid-conversation with the context attached, which turns the AI-versus-human question into a threshold you tune rather than a bet you place up front.

How a campaign is configured

  • List: any Shopify or Klaviyo segment. Abandoned checkouts, churn risk, failed payments, VIPs, replenishment, browse abandonment, B2B.

  • Execution: a continuous campaign re-syncs the contact list with the latest segment data every two hours, so new abandoned carts enter the queue on their own. A one-time campaign pulls the list once at the start and never updates it.

  • Callers: human agents, where your team picks up scheduled calls from the campaign queue, or AI agent, where the AI places every call automatically.

  • Agent type: outbound calls are placed only by an Outbound Sales Agent, which ships with its own base prompt tuned for product discovery and conversion. Your inbound agent is untouched.

  • Script: an opener, a follow-up and a closing script per campaign, editable, with AI-generated guidance so the pitch and the objection handling hold across every call and every caller.

  • Calling hours: a window such as 09:00 to 19:00, evaluated in the contact's local time zone.

  • Dial attempts and contact caps: how many callbacks, and a ceiling on how often one person is contacted during a campaign.

  • Voicemails: a different pre-recorded voicemail per attempt, dropped the moment voicemail is detected, then a follow-up SMS or straight to the next call.

  • Exclusions: do-not-call exclusions at segment level, plus a toggle to exclude likely Texas residents.

  • Pacing: calls are placed one at a time to protect your number's reputation with carriers.

What the agent does once the call connects

  • Arrives with context loaded: the cart, the full order history, previous calls, SMS from the last 90 days, your policies and your knowledge base, before the phone rings.

  • Searches the catalogue on names and descriptions, reads live stock levels, pitches what you can actually ship, and offers alternatives when something has sold out.

  • Creates the order: a Shopify draft order during the call, with your configured discount code applied, and the checkout link texted to the number it is calling, even when you have no email on file.

  • Sends over SMS and MMS: checkout links, exact product variant links, tracking, plus photos, return labels and PDFs (JPG, PNG, GIF, PDF, up to 5MB per file).

  • Cancels an order when that is the right outcome: unfulfilled orders inside a cancellation window you set, with refund and restock, restrictable by order tag.

  • Transfers live to a teammate or an external number, with the external leg appearing in its own section of the transcript.

  • Ends dead calls fast: one prompt, one warning, clean hang-up inside 20 to 25 seconds when nobody engages.

  • Handles opt-outs itself: a customer who replies STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE has the conversation closed and is blocked from future outbound calls and SMS automatically, with the restriction lifting on their own if they message again.

What you get back

Every attributed order traces to the exact call, voicemail or SMS that produced it, with the agent and the campaign attached. First-touch or last-touch attribution, with a 3-day window available. Orders closed by an AI agent can be isolated with a filter, so you can compare AI and human performance on the same segments instead of arguing about it. The revenue funnel runs customers contacted → customers reached → sales attributed with a conversion rate at each step, and a weekly heatmap shows call volume by hour so campaigns run when your customers actually answer. Everything exports to CSV with transcripts, fires as webhooks (completed calls, call summaries, attributed orders), and lands as a ticket in Zendesk, Gorgias, eDesk, Richpanel or Kustomer after outbound calls as well as inbound ones.

Pricing: $0.10 per minute for the call plus $0.30 per minute for the AI. Human BPO agents, if you want them, are billed separately by the hour plus a per-sale commission.

Honest limitation: Consio is built for Shopify. Off Shopify, most of what makes it good (segment sync, live inventory, draft orders, order-level attribution) does not apply, and another platform on this list will fit better.

2. Regal: enterprise voice AI with a human desktop

What it is: a voice AI platform whose homepage leads with "Built for CX leaders by CX leaders," covering both call directions. Regal publishes a Unified Agent Desktop described as "Human & AI agents working together," with handoffs between the two.

Who it is for: enterprises running a real contact centre. Eight verticals are named: insurance (property & casualty, health & life), financial services, healthcare, local services, education, ecommerce, legal services and BPO. Named customers include Toyota, TaskUs, the American Red Cross, AAA, Coursera, Ro and Guitar Center. Stated metrics include a 97% containment rate, an 80% reduction in cost to serve and 4x faster speed-to-lead.

Honest limitation: breadth is the trade-off. Ecommerce is one of eight verticals rather than the whole product, so the Shopify-native pieces (segment sync, live inventory, draft orders, catalogue search) are integration work rather than defaults. Pricing is not published, which usually signals enterprise contracting and a longer sales cycle than a Shopify brand wants.

3. Thoughtly: speed-to-lead for GTM teams

What it is: "Voice AI for the leads you can't miss," positioned for go-to-market teams. It calls inbound leads within seconds of a form submission, then follows up over other channels, and handles inbound, outbound and voicemail in one call log.

Who it is for: B2B and enterprise sales teams. Named customers skew education, insurance and industrials: 2U, edX, Farmers Insurance, Siemens, Rothschild & Co, Ace Hardware, Podium Education. Named integrations are Salesforce and HubSpot.

Honest limitation: it is not an ecommerce product, and it does not present itself as one. There is no Shopify specialisation on the site, no catalogue or order context, and the use case is leads and demos rather than carts and orders. Voice quality is not the issue here. Fit is.

4. Outcraft: signal-triggered AI callbacks

What it is: an "AI Sales Team That Calls, Qualifies, and Converts Inbound Demand." The model is signal-triggered: a form fill, a demo request, an abandoned cart or a failed payment becomes a booked call. The site splits into "For B2B & SaaS" and "For B2C & E-commerce."

Who it is for: teams that want the AI to own the calling outright and to react to events rather than work a list. Named integrations include Salesforce, HubSpot, Shopify and Stripe, with 20+ native integrations in total. Use cases named are converting inbound leads, activating users during onboarding, recovering failed payments, and recovering abandoned checkouts and post-purchase upsells.

Honest limitation: two things. There is no human layer in the offer, so if your plan involves your best closers taking the high-AOV calls, that stays a separate tool and a separate report. And the model is reactive: excellent when the trigger is a fresh signal, less suited to working a 40,000-contact win-back segment on a schedule. Pricing is not published.

5. LiveRecover: human cart recovery over SMS

What it is: not a calling tool. LiveRecover puts real people into two-way SMS conversations with cart abandoners, from a real number rather than a shortcode. Its headline is "Add a human to your flows. 10x every other channel," and it claims $227M+ recovered.

Who it is for: brands whose single blocker is abandoned checkout and who would rather buy an outcome than run a channel. Pricing is performance-based. Named integrations are Shopify, Salesforce, commercetools and BigCommerce.

Honest limitation: SMS only. You never get the objection handled in real time the way a call does, and you never get an order taken on the spot. It earns its place on this list because it is what many brands compare AI calling against, and on the specific job of cart recovery it is a legitimate alternative rather than a lesser one.

6. Ringly: Shopify inbound, not outbound

What it is: "AI phone support for Shopify brands." The agent answers customer calls 24/7 and handles WISMO, returns, product, inventory and policy questions, escalating to your team on anything it cannot resolve.

Pricing, published, which is welcome: Grow at $349 per month for 1,000 minutes then $0.29 per minute overage. Pro at $799 per month for 2,500 minutes then $0.19 per minute. Enterprise on request. Named integrations are Shopify, Gorgias and TrackingMore.

Honest limitation: it does not place outbound calls. If you found this article because you want an AI to phone your abandoned checkouts, Ringly is not the tool, and that is better to know before a demo than during one. For 24/7 inbound coverage on a Shopify store it is a strong, transparently priced option.

7. Flip CX: inbound voice AI for retail and beyond

What it is: "Automate your customer support calls with voice AI," aimed at replacing legacy IVR. Retail ecommerce is one of three named markets alongside healthcare and transportation, covering order status, returns, subscriptions and product info. Calls escalate to human agents when needed.

Notable: 80+ integrations including Shopify, Recharge, Loop, Kustomer, Gladly, Genesys and Aircall. Pricing is "zero cost up front, and performance-based."

Honest limitation: it is an inbound automation product. Outbound appears on its own site only in a healthcare aftercare context, not as an ecommerce capability. Like Ringly, strong at the job it does and the wrong shortlist for this one.

How to choose, in three questions

1. Do you need the outbound direction at all, or is your problem missed inbound calls? Settle this before you shortlist. Two of the seven tools here are good at inbound and cannot dial out. If your pain is after-hours WISMO, buy an inbound product and stop reading.

2. Will a human ever need to take one of these calls? For anything above your AOV median, usually yes. A platform where AI and humans share the campaign, the context and the reporting saves you from stitching two systems together and reconciling two sets of numbers. If the answer is genuinely never, an AI-only tool is simpler and there are good ones here.

3. Is your list a schedule or a signal? Working 40,000 lapsed buyers on a schedule and calling back a form fill within ten seconds are different products. Signal-triggered tools are excellent at the second and poorly suited to the first. Segment-based campaigns are the reverse.

And one more, if you are on Shopify. Segment sync, live inventory, catalogue search, draft orders and order-level attribution are either built in or they are a project. Generic voice AI plus a Shopify integration behaves differently from a platform built around the store.

FAQs

Which AI tools actually place outbound calls for ecommerce?

Of the seven reviewed here, Consio, Regal and Thoughtly place outbound calls against a list. Outcraft calls on inbound signals rather than working a list. LiveRecover uses human agents over SMS. Ringly and Flip CX are inbound-only.

What is the best AI outbound calling tool for a Shopify brand?

For a Shopify store that wants AI and human callers on the same campaigns with Shopify-native context and order-level attribution, Consio is built for exactly that. For an enterprise contact centre across several verticals, Regal. For signal-triggered callbacks with no human layer, Outcraft.

Can an AI agent take an order over the phone?

On Consio, yes. The agent creates a Shopify draft order during the call, applies your configured discount code, and texts the checkout link to the phone it is calling, even with no email on file. Ask to see this in a demo rather than reading it on a feature grid, because it is where most voice products stop.

How much do AI outbound calls cost?

Per-minute pricing runs around $0.40 all in on Consio, which is $0.10 for the call plus $0.30 for the AI. Bundle pricing, where published, sits at $349 to $799 per month for 1,000 to 2,500 minutes. The figure to plan against is cost per recovered order rather than cost per minute.

Can I mix AI and human callers on one campaign?

On Consio and Regal, yes. On Consio the caller is a setting on the campaign: your team works the queue, or the AI places every call, with the same segments, script and reporting either way, and a live transfer between them. The other five platforms on this list do not offer both.

Which of these are built specifically for Shopify?

Consio and Ringly position around Shopify explicitly. Flip CX and Outcraft integrate with Shopify among many others. Regal and Thoughtly are platform-first with ecommerce as one vertical among several.
